I was very much looking forward to this Forest Swords remix / remake of Gold Panda's new single Marriage. The stream is below plus the video for the original. The whole EP with remixes by Baths, Halls and Star Slinger is here.
'Satellite' is my favourite TVOTR song, it's from their first EP Young Liars. I still think that EP is the best thing they've done, together with Return To Cookie Mountain. I wasn't a big fan of their last record and yesterday they premiered a new track from the new LP Nine Types Of Light. It's streaming here. I'm not convinced yet.
La La Vasquez will release their third single on Sex Is Disgusting soon. Listen to some tracks from it on their blog. I love the track 'Ain't Home', that's streaming below plus 'Buoy' from their second single.
2:54 shared a couple of great demo's last year. Their debut 7" On A Wire / Cold Front is out March 28th on House Anxiety. The guitar in 'Cold Front' is excellent.
Listen to the single below, last year's demo's are here.
This is a session from The Line Of Best Fit. Also below a video from Lonely Galaxy's gig at the ICA in London two weeks ago, it was cool except for the sound.
Kate Jackson used to be the singer in the Long Blondes. She's been writing solo stuff with Bernard Butler from Suede, last year she posted 'Homeward Bound' on her myspace. 'The Atlantic' is another track she wrote with Butler. She signed to EMI and says the record is going to be a big pop album. She'll post a new song every other monday now, until she's playing live again.
I saw tUnE-yArDs a year ago supporting Dirty Projectors, it was very good and surprising. Looping vocals and sounds she sounded as if there were 10 people on stage. This track 'Bizzness' is off the forthcoming LP W H O K I L L and sounds very much like that live performance.
'And The Rain' is a demo from John Maus' upcoming album We Must Become The Pitiless Censors Of Ourselves. Photo by Bas Hendrikx from Das Banale Ding. Print or email valentine cards by Das Banale Ding here.
I'm listening a lot to Broadcast lately, I assume a lot of fans of the band are at the moment. In particular the b-sides compilation The Future Crayon with it's lovely artwork gets a lot of spins here. There are a lot of beautiful Broadcast radio sessions floating around the internet now. The Peel Session from 2003 with 'Pendulum' and 'Minim', the Black Session from 2000, the Radio 1 Session from 1997 and this 'One Session' from 2005 with an agressive version of 'America's Boy' are some highlights. The band released it's last single with The Focus Group last autumn on Ghost Box as part of the label's Study Series. That 7" is still available from the Ghost Box shop. Three great songs going a bit further than the record they released together in 2009. 'Tuesday's Offering' with the haunted, distant vocal and minimal sound is the most stunning track.
Форум were a Soviet synth pop band. I found out about them through Puro Instinct. Their debut LP Белая Ночь is from 1984. It has some trashy ballads but also some very cool electro tracks. I love the enthousiastic way of singing. Listen to 'Отпустите, мамы' and 'Верные друзья' below. These drum computers and guitars are definitely present on Puro Instinct's new LP and it also reminds me of Twin Shadow. After the tracks two video's for the same song, the sound quality of the first video is the best, the second one is a television performance. The colours in that second video are excellent.
Soft Healer have a new one sided 10" out next week and also a new website. Listen to the single below, the player also has their previous Captured Tracks 7" Movie Light / Gentle One.
This is a re-post, I love this song. It's a bonustrack from Hatcham Social's cassette EP Found In The Woods II from 2008 when they were still lo-fi. HS have just recorded their second album which should be out soon.
Belbury Poly's great record The Willows is re-issued by Ghost Box on vinyl and CD together with The Focus Group's Sketches And Spells. You can buy the pair in a bundle here. Below a stream of 'Wildspot' and 'The Willows', the first track appeared last year on the brilliant Dirty Sound System mix I Remember The First Time I Heard Your Voice.
PJ Harvey's new album leaked and is also streaming here. I like it better after a few spins, 'The Glorious Land' and 'Bitter Branches' are great songs and I'm currently hooked on 'England', I read this review about the record that said .. the song 'England' begins and ends with some kind of ethnic throat singing and such excruciating shrieking we thought the foxes were shagging on the bins again. If someone sat next to us and did that in our ears we'd get off the bus and walk home. Listen to 'England' here:
I think it's overall a good record with some weak moments, the last song is a duet with a guy I don't recognise. It sounds really M.O.R. Below the video for the title track.
Another track from Therapies Son's next EP Over The Sea, it's released by Transparent on March 15. Pre-order from Pure Groove. Previously previewed track 'Touching Down' is here.

The new Vivian Girls record Share The Joy is out April 12. The first single sounds very good and is free here. Below a stream of the track plus the old 'Wild Eyes' b-side 'My Baby Wants Me Dead'.
