PJ Harvey - Let England Shake (Video)

PJ Harvey's new album leaked and is also streaming here. I like it better after a few spins, 'The Glorious Land' and 'Bitter Branches' are great songs and I'm currently hooked on 'England', I read this review about the record that said .. the song 'England' begins and ends with some kind of ethnic throat singing and such excruciating shrieking we thought the foxes were shagging on the bins again. If someone sat next to us and did that in our ears we'd get off the bus and walk home. Listen to 'England' here:

I think it's overall a good record with some weak moments, the last song is a duet with a guy I don't recognise. It sounds really M.O.R.
Below the video for the title track.

PJ Harvey - 1993

I heard 'Reeling' from 4-track Demos on the radio in 1993 and went to the recordshop to buy it. A week later I bought Rid Of Me. These two records really impressed me, the artwork is great and the songs are very intense, I never heard something like it before and since.
Steve Albini produced Rid Of Me and said that PJ only ate cooked potatoes. He was fascinated by her guitar playing and thought it was a shame she left this sound when she recorded To Bring You My Love without her band.
Below a live version of 'Rid Of Me' on an American TV show, 'My Naked Cousin' live in Chicago and then the documentary Reeling in ten parts.

PJ Harvey - White Chalk Live

In 2007 PJ Harvey released White Chalk, an intimate and introverted record. She challenged herself to write and record songs from quite a different angle than what she was used to. It's a beautiful short album, probably one of her best. It got a bit overlooked at the time, maybe because it didn't rock as bluntly as her previous work.
For this album she didn't do a big world tour, because she felt that she couldn't translate the intimacy of the record on stage everyday. Instead she performed by herself in just a couple of theatres. But she did do a lot of radio sessions and tv performances to promote the new work.
Here is a compilation I made of the best tracks from these sessions and below stunning versions of 'Grow Grow Grow' on a French tv show and 'The Mountain' in an early stage.
